Exercise #3 Creating a Character
See the lovely people featured below? Those are 12 of my friends.

So I want you to look at these 12 people and choose someone for yourself. Come up with an identity for them, including such things as where they're from, what they do for a living, if they have families or live on their own, personality quirks, likes and dislikes... whatever you feel would help develop them into a character you might use in a story. You can go for contemporary, or place them in a futuristic or fantasy setting if you like.
And of course, physical description is a must!

There are no hard rules on this, other than me asking that you include the names provided in order to avoid any confusion (though feel free to name your character whatever you wish). Other than that, use as many or as few words as you like, and just create a character that makes sense to YOU!

Character Profile for Jonas Bagdar (JB)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Jonas Bagdar was born in the Realm of Shadow. He was orphaned at an early age and taken in by monks at a monastery near where he was born. They taught him many skills both practical and magickal.

Even though he was born in the Realm of Shadow, his use of magick is hindered by the trauma of watching his parent’s death at the hands of the Shadow Emperor.

He is now a mercenary on the side of good. He is willing to fight for the weak and the oppressed with little more compensation than a hot meal and a dry bed. He has traveled many realms since leaving the monastery after he became of age. He does not like to settle in one place for long.

His constant companion is a half wolf, half hell hound by the name of Da’Gar. (See Below)

STATISTICS:

Name: Jonas Bagdar

Age: unknown

Gender: male

Species: Shadow Warrior

Appearance: Jonas has a moustache and facial hair on his chin that is kept cropped short. He is two meters tall with long black hair tied with a leather cord that teaches his mid back. He is well muscled and powerfully built. He wears leather breeches and a black wool cowl over padded chainmail. He wears black calf high boots

Powers: Magickal but has very few abilities (shifting light and shadow, sensing a presence, limited ability to read the thoughts and emotions of others)

Weapons: He is experienced with many types of weapons but prefers the mace, dagger and long sword.

Alliance: Light (on the side of Good)

Special Skills: He has the ability to shift the shadows to cover his presence. He has superior tracking and stalking skills.

Interests:  He enjoys drinking, hunting and questing. He also likes to bet on horse races, jousting and Malays.

DA’GAR (Non-speaking Character)

Da’Gar is a hybrid dog like creature bred from a wolf and a hell hound. He is male and of unknown age.  He is .75 meters tall at the shoulder deep brown with black markings on his back and face that help him blend into the shadows. He has no magickal powers or abilities.

Da’Gar is the loyal companion of Jonas Bagdar, never leaving his side unless commanded to do so. He was found as a pup near a volcano in a distant land while Jonas was hunting. It was presumed he was thrown out of hell for being small and part wolf.

Da’Gar is emotive and can sense the emotions of Jonas and others around him. Despite his fierce appearance, he is normally calm unless provoked.

 Exercise #2 Establishing a Setting

Using the photograph below, I want you guys to describe the setting you see. There are no word count limitations, just use the picture as a means of creating an atmosphere in a way that feels natural to you.

There are only two rules:

1.) You may not include any characters. This is setting only.

2.) You MUST put your submission behind a spoiler tag, and not read any of the others until you've completed yours. This is just so what each of us write is not influenced by anyone else's work -- I want to see what YOU can do with this exercise.

Title: Morning

Summary: The forest in the early morning.

Rating: G

Prompt: Photo

Words: 109

 X

Morning

The fresh morning air drifts slowly through the trees. It carries with it the sound of the birds chirping an announcement of the warm morning sun.

Sunlight flows through the light mist, sparkling on its way down to the thick forest floor. It falls into pools of dew covered green leaves.

Small animals wake and start their day as a doe brings her fawn out from the cover of the trees to feast in the pools of sunshine.

The tall trees stand at attention as they bask in the suns golden light. Their leaves rustle their secrets to the creatures below.

Morning has come to the forest once again.
