Bottles of Wine
Katy emptied the last drops of wine. “Wow! We drank a whole bottle of wine. “

“I know.” Mitchie laughed and got up. “I'll go get another one.”

“I should go to bed.” Katy stretched. “It’s been a really long day.”

“Oh no. You're not going to bed yet. Not until we finished at least one more bottle.” Mitchie called back from the kitchen. “I have more snacks.”

“Michie, I need sleep not a buzz.” Katy sighed.

Mitchie came back with a bag of chips and another bottle. “Get buzzed and I'll get up with the kids.”

“Thanks but I'll get up with them.” Katy swirled the wine in her glass.

Mitchie sat down and put the bottle on the table. “You know that we could be eating a whole chocolate cake instead. I can go get one.”

“Ugh. God no!” Katy shook her head.

Mitchie refilled her glass. “Then drink.”

Katy woke up on the sofa the next morning with pairs of sleepy eyes looking at her.

“Mommy, when are you getting up?” Her daughter asked. 

“Let Mommy sleep.” Mitchie called out. “Come eat your cereal and when you've finished the whole bowl. Auntie Mitchie will take you to the park.”

The two little darlings ran into the kitchen.

Mitchie smiled at Katy. “Go back to sleep. I've got them.”

Katy nodded. She had just about gotten comfortable when her phone rang. She picked it up and looked at the caller ID.

“Doug, what do you want?”

“I want to talk. We need to work this out.”

“Are you still with my sister the whore?”

“No.”

“This whole thing is your fault.”

“I know.”
