Rainy Days and Mondays #9
May. 27th, 2015 09:28 am#9. “There's no rain as fertile as tears…” ~ Marcel Proust.
Max came back to the city a year after he left and started to look for Jackie. She wasn’t at the apartment they had shared and she had changed jobs. No one that Max knew had any idea where Jackie could be. It was almost as if she had fallen off the earth.
Max started to look for her friends but they wouldn’t give him any information. Some of them wouldn’t even speak to him.
On the last day in town, Max sat on the bed of hotel room in tears. He couldn’t find her. His heart was shattered into a million little pieces.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door; a bellman had a note for him. His heart soared when he saw Jackie’s handwriting but as he read the note his heart crashed to the earth.
The note was short and to the point. Jackie had cried until she couldn’t then she found someone new. Her tears had helped her grow beyond. The girl that she was into the woman she became. She was married and they were happy. She and her new husband were expecting a child in the spring.
Max shoved it in his pocket and left the city. He knew he would never come back. He had been the one to ruin the relationship and now he was the one left out in the cold.
