CRYSTAL DAGGER

This was a gift from Prince Dragas of Zestra for Endora’s coming of age birthday. The dagger is silver with a carved clear crystal hilt. The tang of the blade runs all the way through the hilt and creates a setting for a green aventurine stone at the top. This dagger is mostly ornamental but the blade is dragon forged and never loses its sharp edge.

ASTRA (Faerie Fantasy of the Questing Princess)

Astra is a white unicorn with a golden mane and tail. Astra’s horn spirals with a pealized sheen. Astra, like most unicorns, is very loyal and will protect her rider to the death even from beasts larger than she. She is fast and light on her feet. This is Endora’s preferred mount while training and riding in competitions.

SUGAR PLUM (Faerie Fantasy of the Questing Princess)

Sugar Plum is a white mare with a white mane and tail. She is tall and well muscled. She is most likely an Appaloosa. Sugar Plum was sent from the Royal Stables of the Crystal Castle in the Kingdom Of Zestra by Prince Dragas. She was a gift from the Queen and Crown Princess to Endora in an effort to get her to agree to be married.

 2. FAERIE CRYSTAL

The Faerie Crystal is worn by all of the faeries in the Tuathan Realm of Ogham-Duir. The crystal itself looks like a rainbow moonstone but the color flecks are more vibrant. The stone is usually in cabochon form. There have been Faerie Crystals that have been carved into shapes and creatures to be used as talismans. Faerie crystals are set into various metals such as gold, silver, electrum and copper. Most wear the crystal as a pendant but it can also be a ring.

USES/POWERS:

A. ILLUMINATION: When a Faerie simply touches a Faerie Crystal it can cause it to glow. Usually it glows with dull silver light.

B. PORTAL CREATION: No matter where a Faerie is, the Faerie Crystal can create a portal back to the Realm of the owner. A Faerie simply holds the crystal with both hands out in front and a portal appears to carry them to any Realm.

C. CALLING ANOTHER FAERIE: A Faerie in distress can call another of their Race by holding the crystal and silently calling for help.

 WINGS OF TIME

Time flies my love with wings of silver threads

The moments we have are gone as soon as they are here.

Time flies my love as we sleep in our beds

Love is fleeting and cruel it never lingers very long.

The clock ticks and tocks with no end in sight.

The hands spin and erase our lives with an unsung glee

The clock ticks and tocks till morning is night.

It brings us love and joy filling our life just to flee

WHAT IS IT TO STAND OUT IN A CROWD?

I am different and I stand out.

Do you feel special?

I never feel special for being different.

Do you like the attention?

I hate the attention. I just want to be me.

What makes you stand out?

I am the different one in a field of sameness

Do you feel as I do?

MIRROR
CHARACTER:
Queen Taralen of the Tuathe
PROMPT
- Look in a mirror, what do you think of your own reflection? (musewrite prompt set 12)
A/N: This original character is part of the Faerie Fantasy of the Questing Princess series.
Word count: 363

MIRROR

Life is not as easy as you would think for a Queen. There are many responsibilities that must be faced head on. It may seem posh and glamorous but there have been things sacrificed along the way.

Queen Taralen looked into the mirror after dressing for the day. She thought of her granddaughter who wore breeches and tunics and not the heavy silks she was wearing. It would be nice to be young again and have so few worries. She sighed. That time has passed. It will never return.

Taralen remembered that even at Endora’s age she was already deep in responsibility. Her mother died so young. She was forced to take on the robes of Queen long before she was ready. She had no time to see the world or enjoy an afternoon.

The Kingdom needed her to rule even though she was far from ready. She didn’t even have time to mourn her beloved mother.

Taralen’s mother, Deidra, was a delicate beauty. She was full of grace and gentleness. Endora was very much like her, in spirit that is. Taralen looked over at the painted miniature on her chest and smiled.

“How am I doing Mother?” She said aloud.

She knew that her mother would not be proud of everything that she has done. Taralen was not even proud of some things. Those are regrets she must live with. The list was longer than she would ever care to admit.

Taralen walked over to the dressing table and picked up her crown. She walked back to the mirror and carefully sat the delicate ornament on top of her curls.

Taralen sighed as she saw an aging woman with many regrets and few joys. A queen but not the queen she thought she could have been had things been different.

If there things had been different Taralen would have traveled like Endora does now. She would have seen at least more of the world than her own Realm and the gateway village of Crystal Spires. It just wasn’t meant to be.

Taralen mentally shook off her thoughts and left for the throne room to start another day as queen of the Tuathe

NECTAR

Gather thy sweetness before it‘s gone.

Flit and fly through the bluest of skies

Drink it in every drop is so sweet

Sop it up with everything you have.

There are few chances as sweet as this.

It’s the sweetest of things that leave us

They leave us with the biggest of stings

VANDALIA

CHARACTER: Byrdie

A/N: This is a conversation with an old mountain woman.

WORD COUNT: 418

VANDALIA

Vandalia is my home. It’s a misty ageless land where nothing seems to change. Not far away is the hustle and bustle of the modern world. To the young ones of Vandalia, the outside world is the place to be. That may be the reason that traditional craftsmanship is dying here.

There was a time when a family used their old clothes to make a quilt for a cold winter. Quilts now come from a large chain store and they are made in places where our brave boys went off to war. The old clothes are donated to the ‘less fortunate’ or whoever shops at those dirty dingy thrift stores.

Things are different now. Gardens have more flowers than food. Virtually no one knows how to even begin to can or freeze their own food. Supermarkets bring in everything we need from far away.

Everything seems so far away. The mountains that shield us from storms and the worst of the weather also become our prison. The boundary is where dreams and wishes meet reality.

I shouldn’t make this seem so gloomy because it isn’t as bad as all that. We have beauty here that is virtually untouched by man. Wild woods and raging rivers are our greatest treasure.

The wildlife here is plentiful and not that shy. A black bear walking though your yard on a hot summer’s day to get to the creek is not that rare of a sight. Wild turkey and deer are in my yard often as well. They are treasures too

Who am I you ask? I’m Byrdie. I’m a mountain woman with a link to the past and a eye to the future. You have to keep an on eye on it or it will destroy us and our treasures.

Everyone wants progress but do they understand what progress really is? It takes before it gives. It takes our resources, our time and what precious money we have here before we see anything. It lays waste to what was a beautiful forest or a fast flowing stream. The price is more than what can be measured in dollars, time and resources.

I have been on that soapbox all my life and I will fall off it when I die. Nobody will notice because they don’t want to hear what I’m saying. It’s a shame really but that’s how it is.

I see you need to rush off now so I will see you again I hope but for now take care.
