It was a warm after afternoon in the city park. Most people were still at work so it was quiet and nearly deserted.
“Why are we here?” Cass sat up on the blanket she and Paul were laying on.
“We are here because it's the best place to study clouds.” Paul pulled her back down. “There's nothing to block the view.”
“Why are we studying clouds?” Cass rolled on her side and played with his collar.
“You can't paint anything without knowing how it moves in its natural environment. Animals. Clouds. Rainstorms. Snow.” Paul gestured at the clouds. “They all have movement. Flow.”
“Have you been watching Bob Ross again?” Cass bit her lip. She knew that would get his attention.
“Silver! I would never….” Paul stopped and grimaced as he turned on his side to face her. “So what if I did. Bob Ross may be crazy but he's a good painter.”
“Uh huh.” Cass nodded. “He's your hero, isn't he?”
Paul rolled his eyes. “I said good not great.”
Cass laughed. “Next thing you know, you'll be painting happy little trees.”
Pauld glared at her. “Everyone knows trees aren't happy. They are regal and elegant.”
Cass burst out laughing. She rolled onto her back. “You are so full of….”
Paul kissed her to shut her up.
