Katy came in the door and watched her two kids running through the house yelling with Mitchie close behind.
Katy was glad to see them playing. After her meeting with Doug, she needed a lighter mood.
“Mommy!” They both yelled and ran to her.
Katy knelt down and hugged them. “Were they good Aunty Mitchie?”
“Oh, they were very good.” Mitchie grinned. “How it go?”
“It didn't.” Katy cuddled her babies. “We just ended up arguing.”
“I'm going to start dinner.” Mitchie walked towards the kitchen. “Why don't you guys take Mommy to your room and read a book?”
Katy stood up and let the two children lead her up to their room.
Mitchie waited until Katy and the children were upstairs. She pulled out her phone and called Doug.
Doug looked down at the phone on the seat beside him and sighed. He wasn't in the mood for Mitchie's meddling.
He grabbed the phone and answered it. “What do you want, Mitchie?”
“Don't you take that tone with me! I just want to know what the hell you were thinking. You cheated on my best friend, you ass.” Mitchie hissed into the phone.
“What do you care? Look Mitchie I don't think this is any of your business. Leave me alone.” Doug hung up.
Mitchie sighed and put her phone back in her pocket. Maybe it wasn't her business but she didn't like what was going on with him.
Loud giggles came from upstairs. At least the children were oblivious to all the crap going on around them.
Doug pulled into the driveway. His mood had gone from bad to worse after he hung up on Mitchie.
He couldn't believe she had called him. Of all of Katy's friends, Mitchie was the one he liked the least. He thought she was nosy and a meddler.
Doug got out of the car and started to walk to the house. He could here loud crashes inside. He ran the rest of the way to see what was going on.
“Gail!” Doug yelled as he stood in the doorway. “What the hell are you doing?”
Gail stood over a broken TV with a baseball bat. “If you think I'm going to let you go that easy, you're more of an idiot than I thought you were.”
Doug looked around at the mess and started to laugh. It just couldn't get any worse than this. Or could it?
