Well it’s over and I sucked this year. This is the post where I make my excuses. But you know it’s my fault and I’m going to own it.
Things I did wrong:
I tried to do three land comms and write at the same time. Graphics take longer for me that writing and I should have remembered that.
I lacked a well thought out project to focus on. I had no outline and no doc to open first thing in the morning. I was unfocused and it showed.
I have always set aside writing time and managed to write even when I felt sick or had a migraine. I have a smart phone for days like that. Yes people I write scenes on my phone. I didn’t do that. I let other people and other things get in the way of my writing when I shouldn’t have.
I let my eating and sleeping patterns go wonky. This is not good for my creativity or my health. Also, this was reason I had so many migraines.
Things I did right:
I managed to get a little over half of the words written. I don’t know how but I did.
I did actually work on WIP’s. I just didn’t finish anything.
I learned that I have limitations and sometimes I have to remember to make allowances for them.
I learned that I have to plan more and ‘wing it’ less.
So now that NaNoWriMo is over and I have no winner’s banner and the big pile of WIP’s is still a big pile.
