Cavalcade (noun- a procession of persons riding on horseback in horse drawn carriages in cars etc)
When the old lord at the manor died there was a cavalcade of carriages following the wagon to the church cemetery.
One would think that he was well liked by the village and the surrounding countryside but he wasn't. The old lord had been cross and unwavering in his control of his lands and tenants. He was more hated and feared than anything else.
They cavalcade was not there to mourn him but to make sure he was dead and buried at last.
Each person took turns at the shovel to throw dirt on his coffin just to make sure.
