 Wings Are Better Than Ladders

The two faeries headed for the small cottage covered in rose vines. When they got there Princess Endora opened the door and walked in.

Lady Aura was putting potions away in the cupboard. “Did you get everything?”

“Yes. We got the treats, the counting calendar and the holly and mistletoe.” Princess Endora said.

“Good! You wouldn’t mind helping me decorate would you?” Lady Aura asked. “I have a few more potions to make.”

“Sure. What do you want done?” Princess Endora said.

“Could you hang the holly and mistletoe around? Put the mistletoe in the doorway there.” Lady Aura pointed to the arch where the front room goes into a private sitting area.

Got it. Princess Endora said.

The ladder is in the cupboard. Lady Aura told her.

Aura, we don’t need a ladder we are faeries. We have wings. Princess Endora laughed.

I have wings too you know. Aura reminded her.

“Yes but you won’t fit in the house when you have them.” Endora shot back.

Very funny. Lady Aura called back from the kitchen.

“Ok Dionne, let’s get this done.” Princess Endora took off her cloak and pushed up her sleeves. She took a holly branch and flew up to the top of the front door and hung it on the ledge. “Hand me another, Dionne.”

Princess Endora moved to the top of the shelves that surrounded the room. Dionne handed Princess Endora one after another until the room was filled with holly. Princess Endora hung the mistletoe up just as Lady Aura was coming into the room with a tray of tea and bread with jam.

“Thank you both so much. I didn’t think I was going to get anything done today.” Lady Aura said. “I was so far behind.”

“It was no trouble at all.” Princess Endora said. “I hope it’s all right. I just put it on the top shelves.”

Aura looked around. “It’s perfect!”

Just at that moment Prince Dragas came in slamming the door. The bough of holly that was over the door hit him on the head when it fell. 

Lady Aura and the faeries couldn’t help but giggle. Prince Dragas was not amused.
