Characters: Pilot, Passenger, Tower operator
Word Count: 193
Prompt: Bad Connection
“Hello! Hello! Do you hear me?” The pilot clicked the microphone again. “Mayday! Mayday!”
Static was the only answer on the radio.
The pilot turned the knobs on the radio. There was still nothing but static.
The pilot looked back at the passenger who was white knuckled in his chair.
“It’s just a matter of time until they answer.” The pilot called over his shoulder. He looked over the instruments. “I just hope it’s not too long.”
The radio continued to be nothing but static.
“Mayday! Mayday!” The pilot tried again.
Suddenly the radio cleared. “Pilot restate mayday.”
“I have no instruments and I'm flying blind. Do you see my position?” The pilot asked.
“We've got you. You are three miles off the Florida coast. Follow the beacons as soon as they come in sight.” Tower told him.
“Got it. I see them. Help me land without killing my passenger.” The pilot said.
The tower gave the pilot instructions to land. The landing was bumpy but they got down in one piece.
The pilot turned around and looked at the passenger. “See! We are down in one piece.”
The passenger glared at him.
