The Pink Journal

The snow covered walkway was icy and slick. Snow covered everything even the benches that lined the walkway. It clung to the bare branches of the black skeleton trees. Here and there were the tracks of animals of the path in the deep snow. The air was so cold that one’s breath would freeze as soon as it left the body. The sky was grey and heavy with the threat of more heavy wet snow.  The frosty mist hung in the air giving the day a gloomy frozen pall. The damp chill was bone chilling. It caused one to rush instead of taking the time to take in the beauty of the cold winter day.

The Walk 

Walk with me and hold my hand

Tell me that you understand

My life is not easy you see

My dark plight still follows me

Soon my time will surely end

On that day your heart will rend

Walk with me and hear me now

For when it is time to plow

I will be gone from you then

To my grave, cold and earthen

Hold my hand and listen dear

Do not shed a single tear

For all things come to an end

There are more for God to send

Harken now this simple plea

Please dear never forget me

I am old and you are bright

Promise me now on this night.

The warmth of fire light

The sparkle of twinkle lights

The smell of pine

The taste of gingerbread

The laughter of children

This is Christmas.

The cold winter air

The dark night

The smell of wood burning

The taste of a snowflake

The crunch of boots

This is Christmas

The hug from a loved one

The happy face of a child

The smell of baking bread

The taste of cocoa

The ripping of colored paper

This is Christmas
