Thick Blanket Of White
Dionne stood at the doorway of the palace and watched the snowflakes fall. She sighed and snuggled into her plain white cloak a little deeper.
“What is it Dionne?” Princess Endora asked as she pulled the hood of her white cloak with gold embroidery up. She looked around the courtyard at the faeries walking to their tasks.
“I hate this weather. I hate being cold.” Dionne frowned
“You really should dress warmer.” Princess Endora said. “Wear breeches and a tunic when it’s this cold.”
“I would if I thought the Queen wouldn’t put me in the stocks.” Dionne said. “She lets you do it because you are her granddaughter. You don’t see any other Fae women dressing like you do. Not even Dulcina.”
“I don’t think she will put you in the stocks but when we travel it would be a good idea.” Princess Endora said.
“I will if we ever travel in this mess again.” Dionne looked up at the sky. The snow was falling even heavier now. “Do we really have to go to Crystal Spires?”
“Yes! Grandmother has gifts that need to be delivered.” Princess Endora picked up her travel bag. “I like this weather because it means Yule almost is here.”
“I prefer the warmth of Beltane.” Dionne sighed again. “The only thing good about Yule is the presents.”
“There is the horse and cart. Let’s go.” Princess Endora said as she walked down the steps and got in.
“Yes My Lady.” Dionne groaned. She secretly hoped that it wasn’t going to take long.
They took off and by the time they returned everything was covered in a thick blanket of white. Princess Endora stood on the steps as they came in and smiled. Yule was close and she knew just what present to give Dionne and Dulcina.
